What:
The Enthusiasts Committee has created an in-person Prelude to ClarinetFest® event that takes place in the days leading up to ClarinetFest® proper.
The Prelude is a smaller, more personalized experience to help you get oriented to the venue, get hands-on with your instrument, meet some new clarinet friends, and make music together before the full event starts!
Some of the activities you can expect at the Prelude:
- Group warm-ups to work on our clarinet fundamentals
- Application of new practice strategies on the Enthusiasts Clarinet Choir music
- Rehearsal of the Enthusiasts Clarinet Choir music
- Presentations on topics from extended techniques to rhythm, fast notes, and more
- Masterclasses and other performance and feedback opportunities
After you register, we will be sending out a survey so you can share exactly what you want, and we can tailor the experience to be the best possible for all in attendance.
Who:
Typically our enthusiast audience is made up of adult hobbyists; players who have some experience playing, but mostly play in community ensembles rather than professional groups. However, we are open and accepting of all ages and ability levels. As long as you are enthusiastic about the clarinet, then you are welcome!
Why:
ClarinetFest® can be an overwhelming experience, especially if it is your first time, or you are by yourself, but once you get the hang of it, it is a magical time of connection and clarinet awesomeness!
Our mission is to support and cultivate the appreciation of the clarinet and clarinet music for players of all ages and skill levels in a welcoming and engaging atmosphere. The Prelude to ClarinetFest® event is just another way to connect the enthusiast community with the ICA and with one another so we can all have more fun making music!
For ClarinetFest® specifically, we want the Prelude to be a more approachable and welcoming experience for the enthusiasts community, especially for first timers. If you've ever thought of ClarinetFest® as a potentially intimidating or daunting experience, this event is made for you to give you a welcoming place to get started and have fun with your fellow clarinet enthusiasts!
